These are the contents pages templates I have created using photo shop, I had first started creating rectangles and placing them in the position of where a specific item would be placed on the magazine. I had then placed a text box on top of the rectangles and added the words of what is going to be placed there. I then altered the size of the text to match how big the rectangles were and fit it accordingly.
FIRST TEMPLATE:
This is my first template of the contents page, I had placed the title on the top right side of the page, quite a few magazines do have the titles placed there such as "VIBE" magazines. This is so that the image of the artist which would be placed on the left side of the page, gets full attention as it takes the whole side on the left.
Therefore a long shot of the model would have to be placed there or even a couple of different images that fill up that side of the page. Because a close up or mid shot of the model would not work as it would be cut of due to the box being put vertically.
The contents would then be placed below the title, having all text placed on the right side of the page and the images on the left. This creates a clear, structured look and professional by keeping the two separate so that attention is given full to whichever one is looked at.
I then placed a section at the bottom of the page where other information can be placed, this can include an information about a specific artist, the latest news on them or about some concert events or any other text that would be important to the audience which may not be included in the rest of the magazine.
SECOND TEMPLATE:
This is my second template I had created, the title has been placed on the top, centre but will be taking the whole space of the top. This is where the title usually is placed, therefore making a formal and simple look.
The image of the artist and the contents box would be placed opposite one another, and would be of the same size. This gives equal attention to both as the contents page is about the information on different pages as well as the artist shown.
Therefore the image of the model can be a mid shot as the box is not too long, so the sides of the image would not be cut off, or a long shot can also be placed but taken quite further back, to ensure the full image is there, from head to toe.
A separate section for extra information can then be placed at the bottom of the page, as the text box is quite big and also horizontal, this allows the information to be broad. Therefore it can contain a short story article that may not be included within the magazine or within another issue.
THIRD TEMPLATE:
This is my third template created, I had placed the title in a different position to the usual, by placing it vertical and also having the letters one at a time placed below one another. This inspiration was from the third front cover template I had created, as a theme can be created.
The image of the model is placed at the top, keeping equal width for the three boxes on the right side as the title will take up the entire left side. This shows neatness and well structured by having everything levelled and not random sizes.
The content would then be placed below this, having it slightly longer than the image as more information can then be placed, and the text box at the bottom with other information that would be important for the audience such as concert information etc.
The lengths of the three boxes shows importance, by having the contents bigger inn order to fill as much information and the image of the model can be a mid shot or even a close up because it is not as long.
FINAL DECISION:
At the end I have decided to go with my first template that I had created, this was because the structure and layout of the cover was very clear and well organised. Also having the model's image the biggest keeps the attention focus on the page, due to the audience being attracted usually by the images on magazines. Therefore this helps me put a long shot of the model, and creating a division of text on one side and the image on the other. Having a small box for the extra information, is important as by having aig box would mean more information which could distract the attention from the rest of the page.
