To create my questionnaire, I have used "Survey monkey", in total I have 7 questions that I feel would be necessary in order to help me create my magazine. The questions are broad but are very important to know how to create the magazine.
I first asked which magazine they purchase and gave a list of options such as; NME, Billboard or VIBE and also placed an "other" section, this enables me to know which magazine to get inspiration from and which one is most looked at.
The next question I asked was what age they would like the magazine to be for and put options of; Children, Teenager or Over 40s with again the "other" section, this gives me an idea of what I can put in the magazine, making it age appropriate for the audience.
I then asked about which genre music they would like the magazine to be about with option; R&B, Pop or Rock and with an "other" section, as this helps me to specifically choose a type of style for the magazine and also help with the colour theme and model's looks.
Then I asked about what sort of information they would like to see with options; Artist facts, Interviews/Reviews, Photoshoots or "other" , this would help me in making my contents page as I can list what the magazine includes, this would also help me with the double page spread as I can have it based on what they would like to see.
I then asked about the style of the magazine such as; text, images or both, this will help me to know how much text or images I should use, in order to make it fit for my audience and also helps with the layout and structure of the magazine.
Next question was about what features attracts them to a magazine with options; Advert, Freebies, Cover star or "other", helping me again to list my contents page or even making my contents page if they would like to see any adverts etc.
And finally I asked how much they are willing to pay for the magazine, allowing them to place a price and not from an option already given. This will help me get an idea of how detailed the magazine should be as higher the price means more information and better quality whereas low price meaning less information.
I had then printed out some questionnaires to hand out to the public, this allowed more feedback in order for me to know what the audience would like. This is because some may not have access to the internet and therefore will not be able to give their reply online. This enables me to receive as much information and also quicker as I can straightaway get the feedback once they are done filling it in. Whereas online they may not do it straightaway and it might take time to load and to then submit the survey.
Below are the results of the survey, however no replies had been given online therefore I had to print out the questionnaires and hand it out in order to receive some feedback immediately. For the first question; the highest chosen brand was VIBE. The second question; the highest chosen age range was Teenagers. The third question; the highest chosen genre was R&B. The fourth question; the highest chosen information was Interviews/Reviews. The fifth question; the highest chosen styles was Both. The sixth question; the highest chosen features was Cover Star and the seventh question did not have an option but I categorised pricings according to a suitable price range and the majority chose £3.00 - £3.50.
Receiving feedback from the audience will help greatly in order to create the magazine, this is because of now knowing what it is that the audience are looking for and what they are interested in.
