This is a "Billboard" music magazine cover, and the genre would be of Pop, this is clearly shown by the use of colours such as the bright colours and the celebrity's image used.
The title has been placed at the top, center of the cover, this clearly shows what the magazine is called. The title is the biggest font therefore making it eye catching, also because it is a black, bold font with the light background makes it stand out even more.
The next biggest text is placed at the bottom to a slight right, with the celebrity's name slightly bigger to the other text above it. "Resurrection", is a different colour to the rest, making this word seem important.
Other text on the cover is placed along the sides, with two text information on the left and one on the right. The heading for each section is of a different colour to the text under it, also a slightly bigger font and bolder.
The image on the magazine is a close up of the person, and positioned on the center of the cover, making the celebrity's face in center of attention therefore focusing on the makeup and hair of the person.
The image is placed over the title, but the other text is placed on top, this shows which section has greater importance. But still the image has a greater focus due it being the biggest and on center.
The colour of text used are black, blue and dark pink, with hints of lime such as the outline, the title of the "o", being filled with lime and other few bits.
With the background as white and the image of the celebrity also wearing white clothing, this makes the text on the cover stand out. This also gives a fresh look and a modern look as the audience is aimed for teenagers and young adults due to the genre being pop music.
The magazine as a whole is simple due to not much images/background being used and the variety of shapes and basic information being put. Therefore, the image of the celebrity has been focused more on by editing the image to a very high standard.
The bar code has been placed at the bottom, left keeping it horizontal, and the size is small due to not wanting to have attention on although it does not stand out because it matches with the text on the cover.
This is a "Classical" music magazine cover, as well as the genre is also Classical; this is very clearly shown by the title of the magazine that is placed at the top, center of the cover. The title also is the biggest font therefore making it stand out and with the use of a bold font.
Other text containing information is placed under the title on the left, the font used here is very small, but with the heading slightly bolder than the information placed under it. This text is kept at a side in order to show greater importance to the picture being used.
The next biggest text is placed at the bottom, left, the text is the name of the celebrity "Nicola Benedetti", that is presented on the cover. Below the name of the celebrity a smaller and thinner text has been used "standing up for music".
The position of the celebrity on the cover is shown as if she is walking through with her arms placed either sides of her. This matches the way the text placed under her name says "standing.." The celebrity is wearing simple clothing of black and white, making it look sophisticated due to it being a "classical" magazine.
The celebrity has her hair curled and placed on her shoulders but half clipped, this gives a very elegant look. The simple makeup but with "dangly" earrings, makes the look slightly more dressed up. Her look as a whole is very "classy" and very "lady-like", as classical female celebrities tend to be poised and very feminine.
The whole magazine cover has a theme colour of neutral colours, using; black, white, creams and browns. This gives a warm look as well as an elder audience based cover. The celebrity is also matching the rest of the cover making it look well organised.
The bar code as been placed at the bottom, right, having it vertical and keeping it not as important to the rest of the cover therefore is slightly smaller.
As mentioned before, the audience for this magazine would be aimed at adults due to it being a "classical" magazine which children are not likely to be interested in.
This is a "VIBE" music magazine cover, the use of the colours on the magazine, works very well with the theme of R&B, the use of black, white and red gives a sophisticated yet an edgy look. The background is white but the text is black and red making it stand out and the image of the celebrity is also wearing black clothing.
The title is red, making it bright and stand out also having the effect of it fading gives a more dramatic look, having all the text in capital makes it look bold and strong which works well with the theme.
Having the headings with the black, bold font makes it stand out even though it does not have a variety of colours and is very basic, the three colours work very well together that suits a lot with the style of the music.
With the rest of the text placed beneath the heading is of a slight smaller sized font, but still in capital which still gives that bold theme throughout. The text information being placed either sides of the image in a column, giving importance of the image even though some text are over lapping the image, it still is a very dramatic image.
As you can see the image of the celebrity is also with an edgy, rock look with the chains, rings and sunglasses gives a "ghetto" look. Also because the theme is R&B, the hand gesture works really well as it is the typical pose that most artists use.
Also the information that is put on the cover of the magazine such as; "sex, drugs and R&B", this gives an automatic idea of who their target audience are as it may not be suitable for younger children but for teenagers and upwards.
The bar code is placed on the bottom, left and placed horizontal, it does not distract the attention that is given to the image used on the cover because it is placed at the side and also is quite small and matches the colour theme used.
The magazine as a whole, is very sophisticated and basic but then has that edgy look due to the artist's pose, clothing and accessories worn. High level of editing skills did not have to be used due to the cover being very simple as the background is plain white and with text being placed.
This is a "Kerrang!" music magazine cover, the genre of Rock is clearly shown by the images used also the colours that have been used. The title has been placed at the top, centre and is the biggest font in order to stand out. Also the use of black creates a bolder look which works well with the theme.
The image is placed slightly to the right, this is because other images have also been placed on the cover, to show either what information is inside the magazine or other information of different artists etc. These images are small but vary and are placed within rectangles, giving an outline to define each image.
The main, background image used, has the artists in black clothing, which is the main colour most rock artists wear. As the image contains a couple of people, this shows that they are a band, and maybe having the leaders of the group placed forward with microphones.
The next biggest text is of the band name "The Blackout", the clothing therefore matches with their band name as well due to why they also are wearing black. With other information of the band placed beneath the heading.
Text has been placed in variety positions and places, including some overlapping the image, this shows the importance of each information. Also because of the black clothing, the text placed on top is of a bright colour to stand out.
The colour theme on the cover is black, white, red, yellow and blue. The dull colour is used for the base, such as images, title and other few texts. And the red, yellow and blue are the bright colours therefore are either the text or box colours under the information to highlight and bring out.
Information placed at the bottom of the cover, is about other artists information that can also be found within the magazine. This grabs the audience attention further due to showing that the magazine is not just about "The Blackout", as the audience maybe interested in another band.
The bar code has been placed at the bottom right, placing it vertically, this keeps the bar code out of the way to ensure it does not take the attention but to focus of the images and other information.
The magazine as a whole, has a lot going on, due to a couple of images placed and a lot of big and bold text used across the cover. This works very well with the genre as rock tends to be "loud" and "crazy", therefore the quantity and quality is used greatly.
